The handbook that sets the bar high.


When Excite Credit Union approached us to turn their (90-page!) handbook into a branded guide for team members, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

A handbook should never be a step-by-step guide. It needs to give team members a clear understanding of their company culture, values, and expectations. It should be a trusted source and a moral compass and make people feel connected. One of its most important jobs is helping in the onboarding process, so it needed to speak to new employees with approachable and relatable content.

The language also had to capture Excite's tone of voice and the meaning behind the tagline we developed, Step up to better. Each employee has a critical role as a brand ambassador, so the content inspires them to step up for their fellow employees and their customers.

A digital tool that makes the tedious fun.

We selected and treated imagery to fit their fun and easy-going nature and, most importantly, reflect their upbeat brand. We created graphic metaphors to make the guide memorable and engaging by striking the right balance between people and objects. Colorful shapes extracted from their identity are paired with bold and playful photography, weaving a consistent look and feel from page to page.

Excite's employees can ditch the traditional printed handbook. They now have a single source of inspiration to help each of them to step up to better, right at their fingertips.
