Authentic place branding.

If this pandemic has taught us anything, it's that people are desperate for new experiences, and discovering new neighborhoods are a great way to scratch that itch.

When we were hired to brand the Ingleside in San Francisco, we knew we needed to create something truly unique for one of the most original and historic neighborhoods in the Bay Area. We immediately became engrossed with the project and started with a personal walking tour of the neighborhood, interviewing the locals, most of whom are small business owners and city merchants.

We needed to get a better understanding of the people and places that make up Ingleside and what makes them love living there and doing business. We discovered just how tight-knit and welcoming everyone is, and at the end of the day, how meaningful conversations with neighbors and newcomers enrich this community.

With their storied history, there's a lot that's still intact. From homes built for jockeys in the ’20s and ’30s, to the art deco design and influence from the El Rey Theatre, to an entire neighborhood built on a racetrack, and the iconic sundial sculpture, it's unlike anywhere else in the city. Ingleside is the hub for San Francisco’s hidden gems filled with family-friendly parks and greenery that offer unparalleled views to pause and reflect. It’s made up of neighbors, legacy business owners, and working-class families from all different backgrounds, and is truly a diverse neighborhood with an old-school San Francisco spirit.

After defining their personality and core essence, we’re now crafting a brand new identity with a custom-designed typeface that's as original as the neighborhood itself. We'll then develop wayfinding signage to encourage people to explore and walk the neighborhood and see what makes this area so cool.

Stay tuned for our progress on the upcoming place branding!
