PET INCLUSIVE NOVATO

A PAWSITIVE CAMPAIGN.

The City of Novato is nationally recognized as one of the best places to live with pets. With a grant from Mars Petcare, Marin Humane saw an opportunity to double down on that recognition and actively welcome pets into the local community. In partnership with the city, they started Pet Inclusive Novato to encourage businesses, housing providers, and workplaces to adopt pet-friendly practices. 

Marin Humane, a long-standing client partner, asked us to build a brand that would elevate the program and help build awareness within the city. They understand the power of a brand in telling a story and getting a community to rally around an issue. 

Since city policies supported the program, we wanted the identity to be official but heartfelt, pragmatic but also welcoming. It also needed to work for the diverse group of stakeholders, including sole proprietors, landlords, and city leaders.

Rather than a traditional logo, we designed a seal to be used by participating businesses. It features playful yet professional typography and an accessible color palette. We extended the visual identity into the broader campaign ecosystem, including a custom website, an informational one-pager, a brochure, and event collateral. 

Pets are more than companions, they’re bridges to connection. We believe with the right brand and strategy, small programs can spark big cultural shifts. We’re excited to see how Pet Inclusive Novato and city policies define a new way to officially incorporate pets into our communities.
